About

Sireice Re’nell Edwards, or Rice, as her friends call her, is a dedicated Communications and Marketing Specialist at Fondren Library, Rice University. With a passion for community and progressive values, Sireice is an active member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and serves as a director for “What’s In Your Purse?,” a non-profit organization focused on women’s empowerment.

Currently pursuing a Master of Library and Information Science at Syracuse University, Sireice’s journey began in New Orleans. After moving to Houston post-Katrina, she returned to New Orleans for high school and later earned her BA in Philosophy from Howard University in Washington, DC. Her career has taken her to Atlanta and the Research Triangle in North Carolina, and now back to Houston, Texas. Sireice aspires to share her knowledge with the community through mentorship, speaking on panels, presenting, and authoring books and articles. Through this work, she aims to inspire and educate future generations.

Sireice’s interests span cooking, baking, reading, and writing, reflecting her multifaceted personality. She is deeply committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) and values education, women’s empowerment, and lifelong learning. Her professional and personal goals include making significant contributions to the fields of libraries and higher education, promoting diversity and inclusion, advocating for open access, and contributing scholarly content.
