One of the attractive features of Tableau for data visualization is that it can produce maps in addition to standard charts and graphs. Although Tableau’s map feature is limited compared to a full-fledged GIS application, it is a valuable option for plotting geographic data or showing how data elements are spatially distributed. In this workshop, the following mapping topics will be covered.
• learn the basic map types that Tableau can create
• create a symbol map that uses color and size
• create a dual-axis map with two sets of geographic data
• fix wrong location data
• learn map layers
